NOW HIRING!!

A Postdoctoral Fellow or Research Scientist position is available beginning in summer 2022 to lead a project in collaboration with the Comprehensive Wound Healing Center of Northwell Health, the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, and the Diabetic Foot Consortium of the National Institute for Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney diseases. The researcher will lead a highly collaborative and translational project to optimize and validate a novel prognostic biomarker of wound healing using lab-prepared samples and clinical samples collected from patients with chronic diabetic foot ulcers. The optimized biomarkers would allow the identification of individuals who are not likely to heal their ulcer when treated with the standard of care, for use in the personalization of treatment and/or the refinement of entry criteria for clinical trials of new treatments.

Desired qualifications: PhD required in biomedical engineering, biosciences, or a related field and the following technical skills: cell culture, gene expression analysis, statistical analysis.

Essential functions: Responsibilities include: 1) optimize biomarker measurement and standardization, 2) determine the quality control (QC) metrics that can be used to determine if the biomarker is accurately measured, 3) validate storage/shipping conditions, and 4) measure reliability and reproducibility. The researcher will also be expected to prepare publications, progress reports and presentations for communication to external sponsors; present results at national/international conferences; advise and co-advise laboratory technicians and graduate students. Other duties as assigned.

A laboratory technician position is also available to support the above project.
